Our state-of-the-art technology helps us determine if chiropractic is right for you by evaluating the five components of the vertebral subluxation. Collectively, the following elements are known as the subluxation complex.

The loss of normal vertebral positioning and motion in relation to neighboring vertebrae.

Pathological changes occurring in the spinal musculature which include hypertonicity, spasming, fibrosis, weakness and inappropriate functioning.

Irritation or injury to spinal nerve roots through compression, stretch or more commonly chemical irritation from nearby spinal structures.

Pathological changes which occur to the spinal tissues such as abnormal bony growths off the vertebral bodies and joints, fibrosis and adhesions of spinal muscles and ligaments, as well as dehydration and degeneration of spinal discs.

The biochemical changes taking place in the spinal region which include inflammatory biochemicals from injured tissues and biochemical waste products.

Often times, subluxations do not create pain or discomfort until they have progressed to an advanced stage, so early detection is crucial. Our on-site testing allows us to identify these problems before they become symptomatic.

Surface Electromyography (sEMG)

To determine areas of abnormal muscle imbalance and tension, this test measures the level of electrical activity in your back and neck muscles. Tension and muscle imbalances may be caused by spinal subluxations. The sEMG test provides measurements that assist your chiropractor in determining how subluxations are affecting your health.

Infrared Thermal Scan

An infrared thermal scan is performed to evaluate your autonomic nervous system by measuring skin temperature differentials. Autonomic nerves control your organs, glands and blood vessels. Imbalances in skin temperature may be caused by spinal subluxations.

Digital X-rays

Digital X-rays can reveal spinal regions under high stress and expose areas of degenerative change. This can often provide essential information allowing for a more accurate spinal analysis and a more individualized and effective treatment plan. Digital X-rays are also useful in assessing the appropriateness of chiropractic care as they can help to rule out the existence of more serious pathological processes such as spinal fractures, tumors and infections which require immediate emergency medical intervention.
